Design Leader / UX / UI Design
Citrix CloudPlatform is a powerful, open-source cloud infrastructure management platform — but historically, its UI/UX has been developer-focused, making it complex for IT admins and operators to manage large-scale deployments effectively. Key workflows like provisioning virtual machines, configuring storage, and managing multi-tenant environments were often buried in legacy UI patterns.
Redesign and simplify a core part of the CloudStack interface to:
• Improve usability for non-developer roles (e.g. sysadmins, DevOps engineers)
• Provide clearer visibility into resource usage and deployment status
• Reduce the cognitive load of infrastructure orchestration
• Maintain flexibility for advanced users without sacrificing speed for common tasks
Creating the persona through multiple interviews with engineering and DevOps.
Complete revamp Cloudplatform product for v3 release.
I designed a real-time, zoomable Visual Resource Topology Map that clarified how compute, storage, and networking resources are interconnected—greatly improving system discoverability and speeding up troubleshooting. To streamline deployment, I introduced a Guided Provisioning Wizard that walked users through virtual machine creation with clear steps for configuring OS, security groups, storage, and availability zones. For power users, I added Advanced Filtering and Tagging capabilities, allowing infrastructure data to be sliced by account, project, region, or instance type. To ensure inclusivity, I also implemented Dark Mode and accessibility enhancements aligned with WCAG standards, including improved keyboard navigation and theming.
• Reduced average provisioning time by 38% for new users
• Boosted usage of self-service features by 50% within 3 months post-release
• Contributed designs adopted into official CloudStack UI repo with community validation
